Ingredients

  • 1 cup sourdough starter active
  • 1/2 cup warm water
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder

Method
 

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine 1 cup sourdough starter and 1/2 cup warm water.
  2. Add 2 cups all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon salt, and 1/2 teaspoon baking powder to the bowl.
  3. Pour in 1 tablespoon olive oil and mix until combined.
  4. On a floured surface, knead the dough for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Cover the dough with a kitchen towel and let it rest for 1 to 2 hours.
  6. Divide the rested dough into 4 equal pieces.
  7. Using a rolling pin, roll each piece into a circle about 1/4 inch thick.
  8. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and cook each naan for 2 to 3 minutes per side until puffed and golden.

Notes

Brush cooked naan with melted butter or garlic oil for extra flavor.
