Ingredients

Main
  • 1 pound ground pork
  • 1/2 cup shrimp peeled and chopped
  • 1/2 cup mushrooms finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup green onions chopped
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 30 dumpling wrappers

Equipment

  • Steamer or bamboo steamer
  • Mixing bowl
  • Rolling pin
  • Knife or dough cutter
  • Measuring spoons
  • Teaspoon

Method

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground pork, chopped shrimp, mushrooms, and green onions.
  2. Add soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, and black pepper to the bowl and mix well.
  3. Take the dumpling wrappers out of the package and cover them with a damp cloth.
  4. Place a tablespoon of the filling in the center of each wrapper.
  5. Gather the edges of the wrapper and gently pleat them around the filling, leaving the top exposed.
  6. Fill your steamer with water and bring it to a boil.
  7. Place the siomai in the steamer basket, ensuring they don’t touch each other.
  8. Steam for about 20 minutes, or until the filling is cooked through.
  9. Carefully remove the siomai from the steamer and serve hot with dipping sauce.

Notes

For extra flavor, try adding a dash of oyster sauce or chili oil to the filling.
