- Cut the pork shoulder into bite-sized cubes.
- Heat a little oil in a large pot or Dutch oven over medium heat.
- Add the pork cubes and brown on all sides, about 6-8 minutes.
- Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, and sauté until the onion is soft and fragrant, about 3-5 minutes.
- Stir in the drained navy beans, mixing well with the pork and onions.
- Add the barbecue sauce, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper, stirring to combine.
- Pour in the water and bring the mixture to a boil.
- Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 1 hour and 30 minutes.
- Let the dish sit for 5 minutes before serving to allow the flavors to develop further.

Serve with cornbread or over rice, and let sit 5 minutes before serving.
