Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 can 14 oz crushed tomatoes
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • Salt to taste
  • Black pepper to taste
  • Parmesan cheese for serving optional

Method
 

  1. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute, or until fragrant.
  3. Pour in the crushed tomatoes and stir well.
  4. Let the mixture simmer for about 5 minutes.
  5. Slowly stir in the heavy cream until fully combined.
  6. Add the dried basil, salt, and black pepper to taste.
  7. Allow the sauce to simmer for another 3-5 minutes on low heat.
  8. Serve the sauce over pasta or as a dip and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese if desired.

Notes

Substitute butter for olive oil for a richer flavor, use garlic powder instead of fresh garlic, half-and-half for a lighter cream, and fresh basil instead of dried basil.
