Ingredients

Main
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon instant yeast
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup warm milk about 110°F
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 large egg

Equipment

  • Mixing bowl
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Dough scraper
  • Kitchen towel
  • Baking sheet
  • Oven

Method

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine 4 cups all-purpose flour, 1 tablespoon instant yeast, 1/4 cup granulated sugar, and 1 teaspoon salt.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together 1 cup warm milk, 1/4 cup melted unsalted butter, and 1 large egg.
  3. Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and mix until a rough dough forms.
  4. Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, until doubled in size.
  6. Once risen, punch down the dough to release air and shape it into a loaf.
  7. Place the shaped loaf on a baking sheet and cover again with a towel. Let it rise for an additional 30-45 minutes until puffy.
  8. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the loaf for about 30 minutes, or until golden brown.
