Ingredients

  • 2 cups dark rum
  • 1 cup red wine
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup assorted herbs e.g. cinnamon sticks, allspice berries, cloves
  • 1/4 cup dried fruits e.g. raisins, prunes
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon ginger freshly grated or powdered

Method
 

  1. Step 1: Gather all ingredients to ensure a smooth preparation process.
  2. Step 2: In a large glass jar, pour in the dark rum and red wine.
  3. Step 3: Stir in the honey until fully dissolved.
  4. Step 4: Add the assorted herbs (e.g. cinnamon sticks, allspice berries, cloves) to the mixture.
  5. Step 5: Mix in the dried fruits (e.g. raisins, prunes) so they soak up the flavors.
  6. Step 6: Stir in the vanilla extract and grated or powdered ginger.
  7. Step 7: Seal the jar tightly, shake gently, and let steep in a cool, dark place for at least 24 hours (longer for richer flavor).
  8. Step 8: Strain the mixture to remove solids, then serve over ice or neat.

Notes

For the best flavor, allow your mamajuana to steep for at least a week before serving.
