Ingredients

Main
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 medium onion finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 hamburger buns
  • Optional: shredded cheese pickles, mustard, ketchup

Equipment

  • Large skillet
  • Wooden spoon
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Serving plates

Method

  1. Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add a splash of oil; sauté the chopped onion until soft and translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
  2. Add the ground beef to the skillet and break it up with a wooden spoon; cook until browned, about 5-6 minutes.
  3. Stir in Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper, cooking for 1 minute to blend flavors.
  4. Reduce heat to low and let the beef mixture simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. While the meat simmers, toast the hamburger buns in a separate pan or toaster until lightly browned, about 2-3 minutes.
  6. Spoon a generous portion of the cooked beef mixture onto the bottom half of each toasted bun.
  7. Top the meat with optional toppings such as shredded cheese, pickles, mustard, or ketchup, as desired.
  8. Place the top bun on each sandwich and serve immediately while warm.

Notes

For an extra layer of flavor, add a dash of hot sauce to the meat mixture.
