Ingredients

Main
  • 3 large sweet potatoes peeled and sliced
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 cup mini marshmallows

Equipment

  • Large pot
  • Oven-safe baking dish
  • Knife and cutting board
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Wooden spoon or spatula

Method

  1. Start by peeling and slicing the sweet potatoes into even rounds.
  2. Place the sliced sweet potatoes in a large pot and cover them with water. Bring to a boil and cook for about 10 minutes until they are just tender.
  3. Once tender, drain the sweet potatoes and transfer them to an oven-safe baking dish.
  4. In a bowl, combine the melted butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Mix until smooth.
  5. Pour the butter mixture over the sweet potatoes and gently toss to coat them evenly.
  6. Top the coated sweet potatoes with mini marshmallows.
  7. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake the yams for 30 minutes.
  8. Once baked, let the dish cool slightly before serving.

Notes

For an extra touch, broil the marshmallows for a minute at the end for a deeper caramelization.
