Method
- Roll and juice fresh limes and lemons until you have 0.75 cup lime juice and 0.5 cup lemon juice.
- Pour 1.5 cups silver tequila and 0.5 cup triple sec into the pitcher and stir to combine.
- Add the fresh lime juice and lemon juice to the pitcher, stirring gently to blend the flavors.
- Stir in 0.33 cup agave nectar until fully dissolved, about 30 seconds.
- Taste the mixture and adjust balance by adding more agave nectar or lime juice as needed.
- Add 2 cups of large ice cubes to the pitcher and stir gently to chill.
- Refrigerate the pitcher for at least 2 hours to allow the flavors to marry and the drink to chill thoroughly.
- Run a lime wedge around the rim of each glass and dip in kosher salt just before serving.
- Strain the margarita mixture into salt-rimmed glasses filled with fresh ice and garnish with lime wheels or twists.
Notes
Prep the batch up to 24 hours ahead without ice and refrigerate. Add ice and stir before serving, and taste for fresh lime juice if the flavor needs brightening.
