Ingredients

Main
  • 2 sheets of puff pastry thawed
  • 3 medium apples peeled, cored, and sliced
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 egg beaten (for egg wash)
  • 1 tablespoon butter melted (optional, for brushing)

Equipment

  • Baking sheet
  • Parchment paper
  • Rolling pin
  • Sharp knife
  • Mixing bowl
  • Pastry brush

Method

  1. Peel, core, and slice 3 medium apples to ensure even cooking.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the apple slices with 1/4 cup granulated sugar, 1 teaspoon cinnamon, and 1 tablespoon lemon juice.
  3. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  4. On a lightly floured surface, roll out each puff pastry sheet to smooth out any creases.
  5. Cut the pastry into squares or rectangles and place a spoonful of the apple mixture in the center of each.
  6. Fold the pastry over the filling to form pockets and press the edges with a fork to seal.
  7. Brush the tops of the pastries with 1 beaten egg for a golden finish.
  8. Place the pastries on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake at 400°F (200°C) for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.

Notes

For extra crunch, sprinkle coarse sugar on top before baking. Chill pastries before baking for an even flakier texture.
