Ingredients

Main
  • 2 cups of granulated sugar
  • 1 cup of water
  • 1 teaspoon of pure vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon of maple extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon of salt

Equipment

  • Medium saucepan
  • Measuring cups
  • Wooden spoon or whisk
  • Glass jar or bottle for storage

Method

  1. In a medium saucepan, mix the granulated sugar, water, and salt. Stir well to ensure everything is blended before heating.
  2. Place the saucepan over medium heat. Allow the sugar to dissolve without burning.
  3. Continuously stir the mixture until the sugar is completely dissolved, about 5 minutes.
  4. Once dissolved, increase the heat slightly to bring the mixture to a simmer.
  5. After simmering for 10 minutes, remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract and maple extract.
  6. Let the syrup cool in the saucepan for a few minutes.
  7. Pour the syrup into a clean glass jar or bottle using a funnel.
  8. Seal the jar tightly and store it in the refrigerator.

Notes

For a thicker syrup, let it simmer a bit longer but keep an eye on it to avoid burning.
