Ingredients

Main
  • 8 oz cream cheese softened
  • 2 green onions finely chopped
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 pkg wonton wrappers
  • Oil for frying
  • Salt to taste
  • Sauce for dipping sweet and sour or soy sauce

Equipment

  • Mixing bowl
  • Frying pan or deep fryer
  • Slotted spoon
  • Paper towels
  • Pastry brush or spoon for sealing

Method

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, chopped green onions, and garlic powder.
  2. Take a wonton wrapper and place about a teaspoon of filling in the center.
  3. Moisten the edges of the wonton wrapper with water or a beaten egg, then fold over the filling to create a triangle.
  4. Heat enough oil in a frying pan or deep fryer to submerge the rangoons to about 350°F.
  5. Carefully add the sealed rangoons to the hot oil in batches, frying until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes per side.
  6. Using a slotted spoon, transfer fried rangoons to a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.
  7. Allow the rangoons to cool slightly before serving with your choice of dipping sauce.

Notes

Serve warm for the best flavor and texture. These rangoons can be enjoyed on their own or with a variety of dipping sauces.
