Ingredients

Main
  • 1 pound Bob Evans sausage
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder optional

Equipment

  • Measuring cups
  • Measuring spoons
  • Serving spoon

Method

  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, add the sausage. Breaking it apart with your spatula, cook until browned and fully cooked, about 5-7 minutes.
  2. Once the sausage is nicely browned, sprinkle the flour over the sausage. Stir well to combine.
  3. Gradually pour in the milk while stirring constantly to prevent lumps.
  4. Add the salt, black pepper, and optional garlic powder, stirring to combine.
  5. Reduce heat to low and let the mixture simmer for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  6. If the gravy is too thick, add a splash more milk until it reaches desired consistency.
  7. Taste the gravy and adjust the seasonings as needed.
  8. Remove the gravy from heat and serve hot over warm biscuits or breakfast items.

Notes

Serve with biscuits, toast, or over hash browns for a comforting breakfast.
