Ingredients

Main
  • 2 pounds flank steak or sirloin
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder

Equipment

  • Baking dish
  • Meat thermometer
  • Mixing bowl
  • Whisk
  • Aluminum foil

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together soy sauce, olive oil, Worcestershire sauce, minced garlic, brown sugar, black pepper, and onion powder.
  3. Place the steak in a baking dish and pour the marinade over it. Marinate for at least 30 minutes, ideally up to 2 hours.
  4. Remove the steak from the dish and let excess marinade drip off. Arrange it back in the baking dish.
  5. Cover the baking dish tightly with aluminum foil.
  6. Bake for 20 minutes, then remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 to 15 minutes.
  7. Check the internal temperature aiming for 145°F (63°C) for medium-rare.
  8. Let the steak rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing.

Notes

This baked steak pairs beautifully with garlic mashed potatoes, roasted vegetables, or a fresh salad.
