Ted’s Bakery Chocolate Haupia Pie
If you are planning on coming to Hawaii and taking a drive out to the North Shore to see the giant waves, you gotta stop by Ted’s Bakery located at 59-024 Kamehameha Highway, near Sunset Beach. They have an unreal Chocolate Haupia (coconut cream) Pie which is truly a Hawaiian Original. If you don’t have the money or time to do the above, this recipe is for you.

Cranberry Bread Pudding

Cranberries belong to a group of evergreen dwarf shrub native to bogs. Bogs are wetlands typically found in cold areas of the northern hemisphere. The water originating from bogs are acidic and have a charateristic brown color from dissoved peat tannins and decaying vegetable matter.
All of this sounds pretty gross but the Native Americans who lived off the land were not going to let a little acidic bog water stop them. Today cranberries are commercially grown in sandy beds constructed in upland areas, which have shallow water tables. Contrary to popular belief, cranberry beds are only flooded during harvest and the winter months to prevent frost damage. So the what you see on TV in the Oceans Spray commercials are not everyday occurances in the life of a cranberry.
